1. What information does CVSource contain? What regions and times are covered?

CVSource focuses on investment markets in China, including data on every stage in the venture capital investment and private equity investment process. It covers the complete market including LPs, investment firms, funds, investors and high-growth enterprises, as well as financing transactions, IPOs and M&As involving any of the above.

2. What special features does the database have?

CVSource database enables our clients to get a better understanding of Chinese VC & PE market, and make well informed research and decisions:
Have a better understanding of dynamics and trends of Chinese equity market, including fundraisings, investments and exits. Make an in-depth analysis of funds' operations and thorough comparison of performances of different funds;

3. What are the sources of the data? How can you assure accuracy?

CVSource provides real-time data. Data is sourced as follows:
60% is obtained from regular questionnaires (quarterly, annually, and specific deal-related questionnaires) and CV partners;
30% is derived from in-depth interviews with LP's, GP's, and professionals;
10% comes from mainstream media and are confirmed by analysts.
Meanwhile, companies' financial accounting and financing intelligence are obtained as follows:
Interviews and company surveys conducted by ChinaVenture's in-house research team.
Mainstream media and qualified research institutions.
Bizteller, Sinotrust's database product.
The reliability and accuracy of data included in CVSource is secured through a rigorous internal process of information sourcing and data input.

4. What are the respective volumes of each kind of data?

800 PE/VC firms,more than 700 funds and 600 LP's Profiles of about 2,500 investors and 800 PE/VC firms, including their scopes of business, backgrounds, management teams, contact points, track records, investment strategies, track records, etc.

5. How often is data updated?

CVSource updates approximately 100 pieces of data per day in order to accurately reflect all time-sensitive changes in the investment marketplace.

6. What's the relationship between LPs and funds with investment firms?

Limited Partners (LPs) are investors for General Partners (GPs) but do not get involved in the daily operations of the GP, taking only a limited responsibility in various forms including but not limited to: Fund of Funds (FoF), University Endowments, Pension Funds, Private Capital and Government Sponsorship Funds.
Funds refer to the capital pool managed by General Partners which is called up in stages from LPs. For example, the Softbank Investment Fund II managed by the Beijing Softbank Investment Consulting Company. Funds are the ties which connect LPs and GPs. CVSource is dedicated to gathering information on and analyzing the performance of these funds as well as the history and performance of investment firms which manage the funds, thereby allowing LPs to gain better insight into their investments.

7. What's the difference between CVSource and data on the ChinaVenture web portal?

There are relatively large differences between the data provided on the ChinaVenture web portal vs. the CVSource database:
all data entered into the database has passed through a rigorous screening process, and has an extremely high level of accountability; the database includes data from investment firms in cooperation with us as well as results of periodic surveys, this information is not available on the publicly accessible website; the database organizes all of this information in an intricate structure making it a powerful research and strategic consultation tool.

8. How many researchers do you have working on the database?

Currently we have more than 20 researchers who are updating and maintaining the database, ensuring the ongoing quality, reliability and timeliness of the data.
